Led by Dr. Philip D. Lanoue, who has received both state and national recognition for his educational leadership, PDL Consultants are committed to supporting the totality of the work of schools required for the success of all students by “taking them to places they never thought they could be.”
About Dr. Lanoue
He is the 2015 AASA National Superintendent of the Year, as well as the 2015 Georgia Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Lanoue served as principal for 18 years in four high schools in Massachusetts and Vermont, his home state. He was named the Vermont NASSP Principal of the Year while principal of Burlington High School. Lanoue is one of the nation’s top 50 educational innovators in digital learning as named by Converge magazine. His work in supervision and evaluation has been recognized by the University of Georgia (UGA). He is an Adjunct professor at the University of Georgia, and he was a leading contributor in designing one of the nation’s top Professional Development School Districts in partnership with UGA. He has written extensively on the new role of leaders with internationally-renowned expert Dr. Sally Zepeda.
Dr. Lanoue is a renowned speaker who inspires leaders and teachers in the work necessary to create learning cultures where all students are engaged to experience success. Using multiple examples, he outlines the qualities required for leaders to engage in the new work at the school and district levels to leverage change.
PDL consultants provide individualized professional development for leaders to lead, learn and grow in designing the next generation of schools. By creating focused conversations both in person and online, leaders gain confidence in their ability to make decisions from new insight into how to move their school or district. Providing the right support for superintendents, district leaders and principals is paramount to their success and ability to make decisions that improve the work.

Areas of expertise include the design of digital environments to close the opportunity gap, the role of effective school leadership teams, new collaborative teacher planning models, curriculum access and instructional designs, human resource development and succession planning, using assessments to impact learning, school and classroom designs, and developing community partnerships.
Dr. Lanoue and Dr. Sally J. Zepeda work extensively to build bridges between practice and research, and they have written extensively about the role of district and school leaders in supervision and evaluation.
Dr. Zepeda is a Professor in the Department of Lifelong Education, Administration, and Policy at the University of Georgia.
Prior to entering higher education, Dr. Zepeda spent 17 years in K-12 education serving as an English teacher and school administrator. Her research, teaching, and service focus on supervision, evaluation, and the professional learning and development for teachers, principals, and other school leaders. She has authored numerous books, articles, book chapters, monographs, and reports that detail leveraging research and best practices related to supervision, evaluation, and the work of the principal and superintendent. Dr. Zepeda has worked with school systems nationally and internationally.
